Why do you call it Semi-Permanent when others call it Permanent Jewelry?

Why do you call it Semi-Permanent when others call
it Permanent Jewelry?

Permanent is defined as lasting or intended to last or remain unchanged indefinitely. This jewelry, while sustainable metals are used such as 14k gold filled and 925 sterling silver and welded together, it can be easily removed with scissors. This jewelry can also be changed, resized, redesigned, etc. We call it semi-permanent because it's permanent for as long as your lifestyle wants or permits!

What is Sterling Silver?

What is Sterling Silver?

Sterling Silver is an alloy of Silver, containing 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of other metals. Sterling Silver is harder than pure silver and more suitable for jewelry and everyday wear. In fact, wearing Sterling Silver everyday (like with semi-permanent) prevents buildup of tarnish and dust on the metal. 925 Sterling Silver is also best for sensitive skin.

What is Gold Filled?

What is Gold Filled?

To be considered Gold Filled, the gold layer must be at least 5% of the total weight. L+B uses 14k Gold Filled, which means 14k gold is bonded to a base metal, such as brass. From a quality standpoint, Gold Filled is second in line from solid gold, and because of its strength being mixed with other metals Gold Filled is a great choice for semi-permanent jewelry.

Link+Bonded does not recommend welding on children under the age of 12; however, the parent has the right to override our recommendation. Consent waivers must be completed for that child.

With that being said, if a child is under the age of 5, Link+Bonded will not weld a jump ring closed. The jump ring will close, keeping it clasp-less, but it will not be welded.

The pricing for children 12 and under includes a clasp.

Link+Bonded will also not weld a necklace on a child age 12 or younger. The jump ring will close, keeping it clasp-less, but it will not be welded.

My semi-permanent jewelry stretched or has become too big, what do I do?

By normal body movement (wrist and ankles mainly) your jewelry may stretch, or if it’s caught and pulled the metal can stretch, if it doesn’t break. When you purchase semi-permanent jewelry from us, we will always adjust it for you when it comes to resizing your current piece. However, there are limitations to this. Reach out to us with any questions regarding resizing.

What if I want or need to remove my jewelry?

What if I want or need to remove my jewelry?

You have a couple of options!
You can either cut the jump ring (where the weld was completed) with scissors - keep the chain and we will re-weld it when you're ready or we will remove the chain at no cost for you. Once you are ready to have it put back on, we will re-weld at no cost or we can also add a clasp for a small fee.

What are some helpful tips for my new piercing?

What are some helpful tips for my new piercing?

1. Wash your hands before touching or cleaning your piercing. Touching with dirty fingers is an easy way to get a piercing infected. Despite what you may have heard, you do not need to rotate or twist your jewelry during healing. Unless you are cleaning your piercing, keep your hands off!

2. Check Your Jewelry. Any jewelry should be checked occasionally (with clean hands) to make sure those earring backs are fastened.

3. Keep Your Jewelry in. While your piercing is healing, keep jewelry in it at all times. After your piercing is healed you can change your jewelry, but jewelry should never be left out for longer than the time it takes to insert a new piece. If you must remove your jewelry temporarily after healing, such as for work or surgery, there are less visible (and non-metal) alternatives that can be worn for short periods of time.

4. Follow your aftercare. We recommend using the provided aftercare solution 2-3 times a day for 6-12 weeks to ensure the best healing. Cleanse immediately after swimming, exercising, apply hair products or perfume.

5. Be mindful of earrings you wear. For the first 6 months to a year after your piercing is healed, we don’t recommend wearing heavy earrings.
